Vistara, a Delhi based full service airline and joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced Leslie Thng has been named new CEO. He succeeds Phee Teik Yeoh who will return to SIA to take up a senior appointment.

The new position, which will become effective in October, is subject to approval by the Indian government.

Yeoh, who has been an SIA veteran, is credited with overseeing the carrier’s launch and rapid growth starting its first commercial flight in January 2015.

According to Vistara, Thng, who started his career in SIA, has held many senior positions in the airline and “has significant experience across international markets and various businesses. Prior to being appointed CCO for Budget Aviation Holdings (a Singapore Airlines-owned holding company), he was CEO of SilkAir.”
