Vietnamese low-cost carrier (LCC) Vietjet and German Operating Aircraft Leasing (GOAL) have signed a sale-and-leaseback agreement for four new Airbus A321 aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery this year.

Vietjet president and CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said, “We have so far received 16 new A321s from the Airbus factory in Hamburg (Finkenwerder), which created a lot of attention in the airline business.”

Vietjet recently signed a similar contract with Japan-based Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Co. for three A321s.

Vietjet operates 48 Airbus A320/321s on 350 daily flights to 67 destinations within Vietnam and on Asian regional routes.

GOAL—a joint venture between KGAL and Lufthansa—owns and manages 60 aircraft.
