Bahrain flag carrier Gulf Air has selected the Thales Global Express (GX) Ka-band connectivity system for its Airbus A321neo and Boeing 787-9 cabins.

Thales, an Inmarsat value-added reseller, builds connectivity systems that leverage Inmarsat’s GX Ka-band network. The broadband service will be combined with the Thales Avant inflight entertainment system, which Gulf Air selected for its fleet renewal program in 2016.

Gulf Air plans to acquire 39 new aircraft by 2023: 12 A320neos, 17 A321neos and 10 787-9s.
