Traffic from Moscow Domodedovo International Airport to Turkey increased 26.3% year-over-year (YOY) in June and July 2018.

During two summer months the airlines carried from Domodedovo to Turkey 500,600 passengers, the airport said. Domodedovo network includes six destinations in the country: Istanbul, Alanya, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir.

The most popular destination is Antalya. Domodedovo handled 322,200 passengers flying to this resort in the first two summer months, up 22.2% YOY.

It is currently the fastest growing destination at the airport.

Russian authorities lifted the ban on charter flights between Russia and Turkey on Aug. 28, 2016. Charter flights between the countries ceased in November 2015 after Turkish fighter jets downed a Russian fighter aircraft as it crossed into Turkish airspace while on a sortie against Islamic State forces in neighboring Syria. Russia imposed sanctions on Turkey, advising its citizens not to travel to Turkey for leisure. Scheduled flights were not affected.
